FGI Then and Now: The Modifications for Better Design and Planning for Imaging in the Operating Room

Apr 01, 2022

This article compares the 2014 Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) imaging facility definitions and requirements with the 2018 FGI Guidelines, the two most active documents currently adopted by a majority of U.S. states for health care occupancy design needs. Differences in requirements are reviewed and the impacts they present to facility designs are identified. Two case studies are reviewed. Each of the varying classifications has differing requirements that need to be accommodated, translating into design and construction cost impacts to the project.
