Form vs Function?

Apr 13, 2015

This presentation emphasizes the importance of "keeping it simple" for building enclosure design. Cost, durability, and energy all benefit from simple building shapes, which also make it easier to balance aesthetics and program. It further discusses the attributes of "skin-dominated" buildings, which have a perimeter zone over most of their floor area, offering excellent daylighting and cross-ventilation opportunities, while demanding good building enclosure design because of the increased enclosure area.
