Scaling the Transformation: Exterior Spaces at the New Harbor Fronts

Jun 23, 2010

The term ‘scale’ is discussed by a broad field of researchers in geography, sociology and architecture. This paper shows how different understandings of the term ‘scale’ in combination can contribute to an empirical analysis of an architectural space. Examples are given from research on the analysis of the exterior spaces of new housing developments which arise on the grounds of former industrial harbor fronts. The area is Sluseholmen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
