Surveying Stereotomy: Investigations in Arches, Vaults and Digital Stone Masonry

This paper looks into past methods of stereotomic stone masonry construction techniques and how new practitioners are utilizing stereotomy. Through case studies and historical precedents, methods in stereotomic analysis are investigated, focusing on the machine generation of the arch. It surveys past, present, and emerging practitioners and investigates stereotomic methodology in the creation of vaulted spaces.
