Sustainable Hospital Buildings

The research topic for this master thesis is sustainability of hospital buildings. The built environment accounts for 40% of all carbon dioxide emissions in the Netherlands, and hospitals alone count for 4% of the built environment, hence it is necessary that hospital managers and owners understand the urgency to undertake actions to reduce their CO2 emissions. The objective of this research is give insight in the definition of sustainability and to demonstrate the value of sustainable real estate when added to the primary objectives of hospitals.
